I'm currently investigating the level of interest in participating in a "1.9.0 update" kind of contest, where prizes would be awarded for best work on the wiki in various categories. I started a [[forum:663|thread]] for brainstorming and discussion of details but feedback is rather low. If you are interested, please let me know (post on the thread above or send me a message through gossip). --[[User:Ermabwed|Ermabwed]] 17:49, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Welcome

Welcome to the Eternal Lands Wiki, the wiki for the MMORPG Eternal Lands. Started by the Fellowship of the Celtic Woods.

If you experience problems like missing images/functionality or general problems, please send an email to elwiki[dot]net[at]googlemail[dot]com.

Note:

  • This Wiki is not officially sponsored, supported, or sanctioned by the Eternal Lands or any of their staff.
  • You can post the root URL (el-wiki.net) in official channels, just don't post pages that contain spoilers. Posting general info such as links on how to make various items and such is also OK
  • Secrets do not belong in the wiki, they go in the forum, for which you need a username and password, see below.

Contest

I'm currently investigating the level of interest in participating in a "1.9.0 update" kind of contest, where prizes would be awarded for best work on the wiki in various categories. I started a thread for brainstorming and discussion of details but feedback is rather low. Read before posting

  • You need an account with the wiki to edit pages, the link in the upper right corner lets you create an account.
  • The account name has to be your character's name in Eternal Lands and you will have to get it activated before you can edit pages.
  • To get your account activated you can either contact a user with bureaucrat rights or email elwiki.net[at]googlemail[dot]com (please check for notices on the Talk page).
  • Please make sure to read the editing help before making your first contributions to the wiki.
  • The most important thing for a wiki are cross-links between pages. If there is no link to a page, it doesn't exist, so remember to add cross-links to all relevant pages.
  • If you want to add information about a secret please read the editing help on how to handle secrets carefully!
  • To add secret information you will need a forum account as stated in How to Handle Secrets:

Forum Access

  • Without forum access, secret and other information, such as most Quests, are blocked to a user.
  • To get forum access you must create an account on the forum with the same name as you use in Eternal Lands.

Searching the wiki

If your browser supports OpenSearch (Firefox and IE do) you can add "Eternal Lands Wiki (en)" as a search engine to your browser and search the wiki using your browser's search box.

Your browser should provide an easy way to switch search engines (Firefox has a drop down menu right next to the search input field) and should provide an option to add a new search engine in the same place (again, Firefox does this, if IE is different please add the appropriate information here).

Request for Admins

Wanted: People interested in doing administrative duties on the wiki. Payment - a sense of accomplishing something for the public good. Contact elwiki.net[at]googlemail[dot]com via email.

Duties include: Verifying that the name registered is a true player of Eternal Lands (http://game.eternal-lands.com/view_user.php?user=<USERNAME>) then setting up the privileges (non-el if not an existing character, editor if an existing character).
