* You can drain only up to a certain amount more than your ethereal points.  If you try to mana drain an opponent when you are that "full", you will not drain mana from your opponent and lose the mana cost.  (Editors, please clarify this explanation.)
* Often used for training magic levels.
* Some [[creatures]] have mana and can be mana drained.
* Using mana drain on creatures or [[Summoning|summons]] that have a special effect ([[Large Spider]]s, [[White Tiger]]s, [[Grizzly Bear|Grizzly]] and [[Black Bear]]s) before their effect happens will prevent the effect from happening.
* The above can be used to circumvent cooldown of [[Potion of Spirit Restoration]] and such.
