You can get Perks at the [[Wraith]] on [[Isla Prima]]. You can also buy [[Magic_Cloaks_comparison_table|cloaks]] that gives the wearer some of the perks. Before taking a perk be very careful since the inherent cost of getting a perk may not be obvious. Nearly everyone has had to reset their character because they selected the wrong perks in the beginning. So it might be good to ask others for advice before taking any perk. Taking a perk at a low level is often highly discouraged. Also some perks can only be obtained by completing quests.

Some perks require minimal requirements to obtain perk such as OA or Harvesting Level.  You might get a confusing message such as 'Your current overall skill is too low, it needs to be at least 10 for this perk!.  If you have the requirement look at the free pick points, you may have too many.

The removal of perks may be done in one of two ways:
* [[Removal Stones#Perk Removal Stones|Removal Stones]]: Only available for certain perks. Perks that may be removed with a [[Removal_Stones#Perk_Removal_Stones|stone]] have this stated on their page.
* [[Reset]]: A reset will, among other things, remove every perk except [[Skeptic Perk]] and the perks obtained by completing [[Quests|quests]].
