Best places for ...

Hi, this is the "Best places for.." section. Did you ever wonder which is the best place to make Fire Essences? Or the best places to train on a certain monster type? Here is where to search for it :)

Be warned: This is not primarily intended for beginners - often these places require you to travel to C2 and some medium fighting skills to scare off monsters.

Harvesting

There are tons of places to harvest things, but there are always some spots which are much better than others.

Cactus

• Desert Pines (C1)

The cactus is located right in front of the storage exit.

Cinnabar

• Waveneck Caves (C2)

These caves in northwest Glacmor are your quickest option, using the Aeth Aelfan storage via the boat from Glacmor. This is also the safest route for cinnabar, with only a sole hobgoblin roaming Aeth Aelfan (storage is directly beside the boat), and of course Leonard during night hours.

Coal

• Diamond Cave, White Stone (C1)

In the north of White Stone, close to the Nordcarn exit, there is a cave with Gargoyles and Diamonds. Right at the entry you can find a coal deposit. The closest storage is Nordcarn storage. This is much closer than Desert Pines.

Emeralds

• Emerald Valley Caves (C2)

Though the entrance to the caves is a secret, this cave is very close to Viorica's outdoor storage. And the with the only monster being Armed Skeletons, many adventurers may not even need the Monster Magnetism Perk or Monster Magnetism Cloak to harvest here safely.

Gypsum

• Arius (C2)

Arius is the only location where gypsum can be found, thus the best place by default.

Iron Ore

• Emerald Valley Caves (C2) 00:45

Though the entrance to the caves is a secret, this cave is very close to Viorica's outdoor storage. And the with the only monster being Armed Skeletons, many adventurers may not even need the Monster Magnetism Perk or Monster Magnetism Cloak to harvest here safely.

• Naralik (C1) 01:25

Naralik Catacombs is the best place on C1 but Armed Male Orcs and Armed Female Orcs roam there so not so fun for low-level characters.

Nightshade

• Naralik (C1)

Several locations, short walk due to small map and outside storage.

• South Redmoon (C2)

Just north of storage in a flower pot.

Poison Ivy

• Palon Vertas (C2)

Directly west of the outdoor storage, past the windmill, next to a rock by the water just before you reach the white fenced area with roses and other flowers. Very short walk.

• White Stone (C1)

North of storage, just a bit east of the north-east tele pad as you enter Forest of the Fall.

Red Roses

• Palon Vertas (C2) 00:10

Just east of storage next to the building by the corn field. This is very close to the PV storage, and you can even leave the storage window open. Just watch for Leonard at night.

• Valley of the Dwarves (C1) 00:15

Following the path south of storage, you will find red roses at the base of a tree east of the path (just across the red snapdragons at the rock). This is very close to the VotD storage, and you can even leave the storage window open.

Red Snapdragons

• Valley of the Dwarves (C1) 00:20

Following the path south of storage, you will find red snapdragons beside a large rock on the west side the path (just across from the red roses at the tree). This is very close to the VotD storage, and you can even leave the storage window open.

Quartz - Blue Quartz - Rose Quartz

• Nordcarn (C1)

The rose quartz is somewhat hidden behind a fallen brick at [173,92]. Use the Nordcarn storage. The quartz is at NC city entrance. The blue quarts is in the center of Nordcarn.

Silver Ore

• Morcraven Marsh Caves (C1) 01:20

Use the South Cave and take the boat to the silver (it is about 10 seconds faster than using the north entrance). Note that you need a defense of 26 to harvest safely without a Monster Magnetism Cape.

Sulfur

• Emerald Valley Caves (C2) 00:45

Though the entrance to the caves is a secret, this cave is very close to Viorica's outdoor storage. And the with the only monster being Armed Skeletons, many adventurers may not even need the Monster Magnetism Perk or Monster Magnetism Cloak to harvest here safely.

• Crystal Caverns (C1) 01:30

To achieve this time, you must use the VotD storage. From VotD storage, take the boat to Desert Pines, and walk south to the teleport. When you appear at the west end of Evergreen Woods, walk southeast to the Crystal Caverns entrance. After harvesting, use "#beam me" to return to VotD storage (01:20).

Swamp Candles

• Naralik (C1)

If you can safely get there and aren't prone to being attacked by Male Goblins, Naralik is the absolute best place for these, with swamp candles only a few steps directly south of storage, along the water.

• Valley of the Dwarves (C1)

The outdoor storage is just north of the harvest location, also on the west side of the river. A good alternative for those who aren't safe in Naralik.

Toadstool

• South Redmoon (C2) 00:15

Behind storage next to a tree. Although you need to walk inside the building, this is by far the closest to storage. There is the worry of Leonard at night, otherwise there are no agressive creatures on this map.

• Valley of the Dwarves (C1) 00:35

Unlike in White Stone, there are no roaming monsters to worry about for those with low a/d. And the outdoor storage is just west over the river.

Turquoise

• Waveneck Caves (C2)

Like cinnabar, these caves in northwest Glacmor are your quickest option, using the Aeth Aelfan storage via the boat from Glacmor.

Wood Branches

Several very good locations for these, but these are the best for stocking large amounts for your ashes needs. All have branches only a few steps away from storage.

• Emerald Valley Trade Route (C2)

Only 2-3 steps east of storage.

• White Stone (C1)

Again only 2-3 steps east of storage (slightly in the woods heading in the direction of the castle).

• Valley of the Dwarves (C1)

Directly south of storage, on the opposite side of the wall. An only slightly longer walk than the above two options, but this is the best place if you are a newer player concerned about your safety in the other two locations.

• Nordcarn (C1)

Again only 2-3 steps north outside the storage. This one, unlike the above three, has the disadvantage of an inside storage, slowing things down a bit requiring map changes and clicking on the storage NPC with each trip.

Alchemy

Energy Essences

• Crystal Caverns, Desert Pines (C1)

Outside Crystal Caverns northern entrance you can find Tiger Lilly and inside Iron Ore and Silver Ore, this is an ideal place to make energy essence. You only need to bring a 3 pickaxes (always good to have a spare) and plenty of food to eat while you are harvesting.

• Bethel Mine, Bethel (C2)

With Monster Magnetism perk, or once you reach the ignore level for Feros, the east side of the mine has Iron Ore and Silver Ore within a few steps of each other. Using the Palon Vertas storage, you can grab Tiger Lilly in two places on the walk up to Bethel, then bag mix in the mine. (Even with feros ignoring you, bring MM cloak for the brief time in Bethel if Desert Chimerans still attack you.)

Fire Essences

• Fire Essence Cave in Melinis (C2)

This cave contain food like Vegetables on a box, Fruits behind the same box and Toadstools and what you need to make fire essences Red Snapdragons, Red Roses and Sulphur. The cave is inside Melinis city so it is safe. The coordinates for the cave are (130,190). The closest storage is Hazardel so bring some essences for the Teleport to Range Spell.

• Zirakgunda, Zirakinbar (C2)

This abandoned subterranean city is also a good source for this type of essence, you can find Iron Ore near ladder and Roses and Red Snapdragons upstairs not very far from ladder. This map also contains Fruits and nearby there are Toadstools. Storage is nearby in Palon Vertas or by boat to Aeth Aelfan. Watch out for hobgoblins upstairs but there are no creatures, dangerous or otherwise in mines. Bots Nial and Serpentlord are near foods and will buy surplus items or sell what you need to finish the job.

Life Essences

• Wyrmgoth Underground in Aeth Aelfan (C2)

Enter the underground through the waterfall and in the northeast side of the underground are Silver Ore and Sunflowers not many steps from each other. You can also find some Toads in the underground if you need food to eat while making the life essences. Warning hobgoblin spawn at the silver ore and the cave contains armed orcs and a single ogre that might get to this area so its not safe even if its a large place and the chance of them wandering in is little - keep a Monster Magnetism Cloak handy.

• Morcraven Marsh Caves in Morcraven Marsh (via Naralik Storage) (C1)

From Naralik storage, harvest Sunflowers west of the bookseller. Go to Morcraven Marsh, enter the south (Gold) cave. Take the boat across to the Silver Ore and mix.

An alternative is to use the Morcraven Marsh storage, harvesting sunflowers north of storage, then head to the cave. This alternative is only slightly longer than using the Naralik option, but good if you plan to afk while walking to the mine.

Matter Essences

• Crystal Caverns, Desert Pines (C1)

Enter Crystal Caverns by the southern entrance, and go left (south). As you go round the corner you will find an outcrop of Iron ore. Immediately to the south contained within a stone circle, can be found a fairly impressive growth of Quartz which is surrounded by both Blue and Rose Quartz. With all three Quartz, and the nearby Iron Ore, this is an ideal place to make matter essence. You only need to bring a few pickaxes (always good to have a spare) and plenty of food to eat while you are harvesting. Cooked meat works particularly well. Harvest ore/quartz while it is 'cooling down'

It is far more efficient to create the essences here than to gather the ingredients separately. A matter essence weighs only 1 EMU, but the ingredients weigh 10.

As a bonus, try using the 'pointy finger' on the Quartz for a nice surprise.

• Zirakgunda, Zirakinbar (C2)

This abandoned subterranean city is also a good source for this type of essences, you can find here all the Quartz in one location and the Iron Ore is not very far. This map also contains Fruits.

Water Essence

• Portland Cave to White Stone City (C1)

Everything you need to make water essence is very close to this cave. Simply bring a few pickaxes along and something to eat. Blue Lupines are in Portland just north of the cave entrance. Blue Star Flowers are inside the cave just north of the cave exit to Portland. Sapphires are south of the cave exit to Portland. You can find Blue Quartz in front of the cave entrance to White Stone City.

Earth Essence

• Southern cave, Palon Vertas (C2)

The cave is just a short walk from the storage, there are Sulphur and Coal deposits just a few steps of each other. All you need to do is bring Swamp Candles, Food, Leather Gloves and Pickaxes with you.

Spirit Essence

• Buying: Currently Spirit Essences can be bought in the Magic Shops of Whitestone and Sedicolis for 9 gc only. So its cheaper to buy them.

• Morcraven Marsh Caves in Morcraven Marsh (C1)

From Morcraven Marsh storage bring Mercury and food, enter the south (Gold) cave. Silver Ore is a boat trip away, mix either at gold or silver deposit.

Health Essences

• Morcraven Marsh Caves in Morcraven Marsh (C1)

In Morcraven Marsh, harvest Chrysanthemum between the gold cave and Naralik. Enter the south (Gold) cave. Take the boat across to the Silver Ore and mix.

Steel Bars and Iron Bars

• Steel bar Cave in Melinis (C2)

Steel bar cave in the north east of Melinis contains Coal and Iron Ore close to each other. The cave is outside Melinis city so its not safe to go to - use a MM cloak unless you want to fight fluffys and desert chimeras. The closest storage is the Hazardel hazardous storage entrance to the north of the city. You also find the trade bot Arachnid in the cave close to the iron. A good way to make the bars is to first go to the FE cave in Melinas to make fire essences and harvest food - about half FE and half food - and then continue to the Steel bar cave thus making the bars from scratch.

• Zirakgunda, Zirakinbar (C2)

It also has Coal and Sulfur This map also contains Fruits and nearby there are Toadstools. Storage is nearby in Palon Vertas or by boat to Aeth Aelfan. Bots Nial and SerpentLord are near foods and will buy surplus items or sell what you need to finish the job. Nial buys Iron Bars and SerpentLord Steel ones.

Fighting

Male Goblins

• Valley of the Dwarves Gold Mines (C1)

Just off to the side of the main entrance is an area where two goblins spawn, and there are several more deeper in the caves.

Skeletons

• Portland's Titanium Mines (C1)

Several spawns of both unarmed and Armed Skeletons can be found on the cave's lower level.

Female Orcs

• Valley of the Dwarves Temple (C1)

This a popular place to sharpen defense skills while picking up some useful items like Enhanced Wooden Shields, pickaxes, staffs and VotD rings. There are multiple spawns of Female Orcs in Garden and Maze. Just be prepared to fight if you dare enter the temple.

Male Ogres

• White Stone Secret Area ("The Meep") (C1)

It is a single ogre spawn, but there is also a troll spawn in there which makes sure this training session is going to earn you good money. Plus, it's rather close to a storage (NC storage) and still not as widely known as Vermor Castle.

• Idaloran Mines (C2)

Right at the east entrance to the mines, there are three ogre spawns. It's impossible to train on all three, but it is possible to use the first two spawns as a double spawn. Beware of the cyclopses that also roam those mines; they rarely come close to this area, but there is a chance.

• Melinis (C2)

Melinas secret triple spawn ogre cave always have a fighter bashing the ogres head. You need an MM to get there.
