There are three official servers, two for playing Eternal Lands and one for development:

  • The Main server -All Pages On The Wiki, Part The Other Servers Pages Listed Below, Are The Correct Information For The Eternal Lands Main Server.
  • The PK Server
  • The Test server

There are three derivatives that use licensed EL Server/Client code, including test servers:

There is one unofficial server that uses the EL or a derivative of the EL client:

This page explains how to connect to the different servers.

Connecting to Eternal Lands[edit]

Main server[edit]

If you want to play on the main server, all you have to do is start the game. (There are full Windows, Linux and Mac clients, and an Android client being developed by Domino)

Learner's proxy[edit]

Eternal Lands uses port 2000 for the main server and some ISPs block this port. Learner offers a service to connect through his server to Eternal Lands using port 443 for a fee, for details see this page.

To connect to the main server using this service use lrnr-main as the parameter (instead of test or pk).

PK server[edit]

The PK server is different in some aspects from the main server, the differences are explained here.

Connecting to the PK server[edit]

Linux[edit]
  • Command line:
    • start a terminal
    • if the EL binary is not in the PATH, change to the EL folder
    • run the EL binary with the parameter pk, e.g.

el.x86.linux.bin pk

  • Shortcut icon
    • Depending on your window manager, this should work more or less like this:
    • Right clicking on your desktop gives you a context menu offering to create a new shortcut (possibly under "New -> Shortcut" or similar), select that
    • fill in the information, especially the work folder and the command, adding the parameter pk to the command line field.
    • hit "Ok" and you should be all set.
  • If you are using bluap's Debian/Ubuntu packages, you already should have the icons set up for you.
Mac OS[edit]
Windows[edit]

There's a step by step guide on how to create a shortcut for connecting to the PK server here.

Test server[edit]

This server is only for development, every now and then, the characters on the test server are updated to their state on the main server. New features for the game are tested here and people are allowed to test bots here as well (make sure to read the Bots forum and also see killer bots if you plan on testing a bot here).

Connecting to the test server is done the same way as described for the PK server above with the difference that you have to replace the parameter pk above with test to connect to the test server.

Other servers[edit]

There are also other servers that use the Eternal Lands protocol, so once you edit the servers.lst file accordingly, you should be able to connect to them in the same manner. If somebody knows of "other" servers currently under active development, feel free to add the details below.

Other Life - The Community Driven MMO[edit]

A derivative of Eternal Lands

Requires it's own client, for changes in attributes and new maps, etc. and isn't accessible through the EL stock client anymore. I'm Leaving this information here for anyone wanting to change server.lst for the proxy/test - JoeButler April 24, 2014 at 1:44:25 PM BST
